The hike up Mt Helena was a little over a mile and a half each way. Mason and Katie did great, while Andrew seemed more interested in observing nature than walking up the trail.
I ended up carrying him about 2/3 of the way up and back. He doesn't make a great backpack, since he's only mildly aware that he's supposed to be holding on to my neck and not pointing out everything he's seeing on the trail. But in the end, we made it, and it was worth it (now that it's over).
One of the best things was that my mom hiked it with us. She is the incredible shrinking woman, having lost almost half her body weight over the past year and a half. She's running 5K's now and eats healthier than anyone else I know. She's amazing!
