Nathan and Paty

My brother Nathan and his wife Paty and their three kids decided to do an Midwest to East Coast tour, starting with Michigan then on to Ohio and then over to Virginia. They live in New Mexico, so it was a definite change in scenery.

We took them out to Sugar Hollow, and on the way back, the kids got to do their first geocaching using my brother's GPS. They had a lot of fun finding the hidden box and trading the little toys they had brought for some new ones (old junk for new junk)


Saturday we drove up to D.C. and went to the White House and the Smithsonians. We lucked out, because it was one of seven times a year they open up the White House grounds for visitors. It was kind of crazy to be right outside the Oval Office. We only had time for one museum, so we opted for the Natural History since the Air and Space would have required way too much walking for what I was up to on a very warm and humid day.

It was a crowded day at the museum, so there are no pictures to document the chaos that comprised our quick trip through the dinosaurs. They loved Thanksgiving Point in Utah because it has a lot of interactive activities, so the Smithsoniam was actually a little bit of a disappointment for them. We're heading out west tomorrow, so they'll get to do Thanksgiving Point sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I get to drive up to D.C. tomorrow, spend the night and fly out early on Tuesday. I pick up a car and then drive up to Montana. It will make for a busy day, but we love to see Grandma and Grandpa Burnside so it's all worth it. I just wish Ryan was coming along for the fun!
